Good Luck Paul!

We have had the pleasure of meeting & enjoying the company of Mr. Paul Ross & his friend Nancy, both  from OH.  He came to us for a new male puppy to show.  He is soon  retirinf  & wanted to get into showing Papillons.  His new puppy JoJo  isn't old enough to show yet,  so we sent Paul home with our German boy Nightfire's If's An Illusion (Seiger) to show at a few shows.  We are impressed with  Paul's desire to learn.   We wish Paul complete success in his dream & desire to succeed with promoting this beautiful little breed!!!

                                         "Imprints"

Somedays when we wake up in the morning, we are blessed with wonderful emails, calls or visits from special people in your life.  But sometimes these people are someone you really don't even know.  What a joy to have been blessed with such a beautiful stranger yesterday!  Read her email below!   Its such a good feeling to know how you may have touched someone elses life.  It is a blessing to me that such a sad thing has helped make a diffenrece in my life as well as others. This stranger has left a huge imprint with us!!   Thank you Susan for taking the time to write this and for what you did!!

                            My Special Email:

Hello Vicki, My name is Susan  and we met in the Cherry Valley Feed Parking lot a month or so ago. You had Seiger and I had my youngest pom Jonah with me. Dust was billowing from across the street and you were holding a heavy bag of dog food, yet you took the time to talk with me. That was very nice of you---Thank You! Later that day I enjoyed a visit to your web sight by means of the card you'd given me. Your dogs, pond, & flowers are a delight! I read Jim & Dewey's story and of course it broke my heart. I live in the cornfields by Byron so I drive my babies to clean parks and neighborhoods for walks. I've always tried to be watchful while walking but even more so since reading about Jim's terrifying event. I think about him often, and especially before and during walks. I was thinking about him a few weeks ago as I began a walk with Teddy in Cherry Valley. I became aware of a whining sound behind us and when I turned to see what it was all about I saw a beautiful, little Papillion trying to catch up with us, and a man walking with a cane. Jim was of course my first thought but the cane threw me. Long story short, I had the absolute pleasure of walking & talking with Jim for an hour or so. What a nice man he is. Click is as sweet as he is beautiful. The two seem to have bonded very nicely! I hope to come across them again sometime. I also look forward to hearing the outcome of Jim's case.    Thanks, Susan

A Happy ending to a very sad story....

May 31st, 2008 became to Jim, one of the worse days of his life.  While on a walk with his beloved papillon "Dewey",  an attack from out of nowhere~ Dewey was being assulted by a pitbull.  This pitbull charged out of its house, then through an underground electric fence, running past three full properties to get to Dewey.  This pitbull was hell~bent to take little Dewey out....And that he did.  Jim was on a scooter & slipped when trying to get off.. Before his neighbor (that was also with them) could do anything it was to late as the pitbull had Dewey by the throat.  The neighbor was finally able to kick the pitbull, sending it flying several feet.  Without that kick, the pitbull would not release its grip on little Dewey.   Dewey was rushed to the animal emergency, but after 4-5 agonizing hours, Dewey surcome to his horrible injurys.

This pitbull was one of those they said was a wonderful loving family pet.  Wouldn't hurt anybody....or anything....How many more of these stories do we have to hear before something is done about pitbulls.... Or at least making their owners more responsible for them...So many pitbulls end up in the wrong hands.  By that I mean people that get them and do not do the things that are necessary to give a pitbull the proper care it requires....This pitbull I feel was one of them...Belonging to a young girl, this dog lives right next door to one of our local park entrances...It sits & watches people & animals come & go all day long, every day....I have my doubts that it hardly ever got walked, or was taken for runs....I think it probably got to simply be let out to potty inside its electric fenced yard & pace & pace & pace.  I feel it  just built up such frustration watching people come & go all day, every day...I don't think this was entirely the dogs fault...I think it was part the owner being so young & not doing the proper things for this dog such as walks & runs & proper training that dogs need.  I also think it was the parents fault for allowing this girl to own such a dog & not make sure she received the skills necessary for the breed they allowed her to have or give the dog the proper care needed.  It is the fault of our city/county for giving this dog another chance!!  It has to kill or hurt someone/something AGAIN before anything can be done!!  How very sad!!!!!

"Dewey lost his life...Jim lost his beloved pet of two wonderful short years...Jim is fighting this case because he sees small children walk their dogs to this park. He knows full well this can happen again...but the next time it may be a small child the dog grabs.  The dog in this case gets to live... with just the electric fence no less that didn't hold it back already!!!  The happy ending of this tragic story, is we gave Jim one of our very loving papillons "Click"  so Jim can hopefully enjoy  many more years of the happiness these little dogs give us~  Jim's new boy is very happy now, not having to be a show dog~ It just wasn't a life he enjoyed~ Their connection to each other is quite mutual!!

                                                           Jim & Dewey

                                      ~You will never be forgotten~

UPDATE:  In Oct. 2008, Jim settled with the courts and the owner of this pit bull... No happy ending here....The pit bull in this story was put to rest...Jim can't bring Dewey back, but he did his best to make sure this pit bull wouldn't hurt anything else again~

                              "Cisco's Glowing Ember" (DoZeR).

Heartache & Happiness....

My mother (who lives with us) had some mis-fortunes this winter (broke her hip) at home. Had to go to the nursing home for 3 weeks for Re-hab, then fell there & broke her wrist!  They say "all things happen for a reason."  While there, my Mom got a wonderful room mate (Pauline), and the two helped each other out of depression. They started living again by getting involved in activities and helping other people. Then my Mom met a man who has put the brightest  glow on her face and lifted her heart!   Pauline left the nursing home the 3rd of Mar,07 and will now be living even happier at an assisted living Center.  My Mom will be coming home the 21st of Mar. (2007) and has plans to maybe getting an assisted living  place for her and her new Companion.  They are 79 & 82!!!  So this is such a good thing for two people that never thought they could be happy again.  If my Mom died tomorrow, I know she would die happy now.  That makes me feel so good to see her this happy again!  (Maybe it's just her way to get out of our house (SHE HATES HAIR!!!)  And we have a few dogs!!  She has tolorated them well!!

Always remember when things don't work out the way you want them to, "Everything DOES happen for a reason", sometimes we may not know the reason or just who we may be helping!!  God always has a plan...

On Christmas Eve , we took our only grandchild Samantha, two puppies and our Pap female "Darma", to visit an area Nursing home.   Samantha, playing "Tinkerbell"  kept busy handing out gifts to all the residents, visitors & staff.  Everyone there had a wonderful time petting and holding the dogs. (And the dogs just loved it to!)  Some held Tinkerbell's hand and all enjoyed getting their little gifts from her!   This was one of the most enjoyable Christmas Eve's we have had. Below are some pictures of some of the special moments we spent with some wonderful people!!   If you ever want to socialize your new puppy and make a lot of folks VERY Happy, as well as getting a lot of FullfillingTickles in your tummy, this is something everyone should consider doing in their area!!

We hope  everyone had a Safe & Happy Christmas, & wish you a "Pappy New Year in 2007!"

      ~An Exciting Show Experience~

Our DoZeR (Cisco's Glowing Ember) came home for a month to visit while his handler took a little break. We enjoyed having him home again very much!  My husband Mike, even decided to take a try at showing DoZeR at an area AKC sanctioned show. He knew nothing about being in the show ring, but I encouraged him to give it a shot so he wouldn't regret not ever trying!

Although very NOVICE (and it showed!) Mike placed 1st in his class on Sat. Sept. 30th, and took Winner's Dog on Sunday Oct. 1st, 2006, earning a 3rd AKC point toward DoZeR's Championship!!  Without the help of a lot of people (LouAnn King, the Judges helper, the Judge himself, the Photographer and lots of folks we didn't even know, "We could never have done it without you!! " Our thanks to all of you for your help & encouragement!  Mike has decided to retire from showing for now, while he was on the winning end!!

(See Cisco's Glowing Embers Page for Photo's and updates as Cisco's Glowing Ember (DoZeR) grows up)

On Oct. 6th, 2006 we took DoZeR back to his handler Rob, at the Hutchinson, MN show.

"We will miss you "Little Buddy!!!"
